When I was growing up, summer was my absolute favorite season. With no school in session and endless days to hang out with my friends, I thought nothing could be better than the hot and sweaty days we spent at the beach or riding our bikes around the neighborhood. But now as an adult, my view on the summer has completely changed. Don’t get me wrong—I still love the allure and excitement that hits New York once June strikes the calendar. But nowadays, I’m a bit privier to the fall months when things calm down, and the weather isn’t as scorching hot.
One of the best parts about the upcoming months is fall fashion. There is no better feeling than throwing on an oversized pair of jeans and a cozy sweater, and heading out for the day to enjoy the crisp air. This year, there are a few new trends that I’m excited to try out including tall structured boots, elegant cowl necks, leather hobo bags, strappy ballet flats and comfortable barn jackets. Colors such as butter yellow, dark red and olive green are set to dominate our fall wardrobes, and I can’t wait to incorporate them into my ensembles. This is the perfect season to mix and match your outfits with different materials, silhouettes and colors that you normally wouldn’t wear in the summertime. Personally, I can’t wait to add a few olive green pieces to my wardrobe and shop for a new coat in either a light brown or cream color.
Of course, we can’t forget about the eyewear trends for this forthcoming season. In this month’s fashion feature “Eyes on 2025,” we showcase nine different optical and sunwear styles that dutifully represent what we believe to be the hottest and most popular colors, shapes and materials for next year. You’ll find some classic and timeless trends including rounds, tortoiseshell options and oversized frames, as well as reimagined and resurging semi-rimless designs and ivory hues. For even more trendsetting ideas, our New Products page highlights printed and patterned frames that will instantly add a pop of color or unique flair to your eyewear.
Now that September is finally here, I am impatiently waiting for the first real day of fall to come. I can’t wait to step outside and breathe in the cool air and head to a local festival, discover a new hiking trail or go apple picking with my loved ones. I guarantee I’ll be wearing one of this year’s new fashion trends (hopefully that coveted barn jacket!) and a pair of sunglasses that you might just see in the pages of 20/20.
